In the Streets

Every year the two seminaries at St. Thomas get together for Borromeo Weekend, a celebration of the Eucharist that lasts 40 hours and consists of everything from silent prayer to almost revivalist music. St. Charles Borromeo, by the way, is the patron saint of seminarians.
What you see here is the opening procession that starts on the north campus, winds its way across Summit Avenue, down Grand Avenue, and finishes in St. Mary’s Chapel on the south campus where the 40 hour vigil is held. Under the tent is the Eucharist itself which leads the procession. Here’s the route.
St. Thomas public safety blocks off portions of several streets including Cretin Avenue (which is the street running top left to bottom right in this frame) so that the block-long procession can stay together.
It’s a beautiful event that always produces great photos.

The photo is cool. I like that they are doing this through the middle of a city. I think that Cretin runs up and down though.
